Growing Up

This past week has been a bit of a whirldwind for us. We found a house, we were approved for a loan, we signed a contract (almost lost the house, because so many people wanted it). Now starting Monday we get the bank stuff going, we have to get a home inspection, and we are set to close July 10. I am so excited to have our own place. Aaron and I haven't lived together just the two of us in over a year. The next couple of months are going to be crazy, but it should be fun.

I am meeting with my boss on Tuesday to discuss the possible move in the company. It would be a great career move for me, at the same time I will really miss what I am doing now, it is so much fun. I mean we are taking a group of recent college grads who are coming for orientation on a Haunted Decatur tour, and this is considered work for me! I think if there was an opening for a recruiter I would be all over it, but my boss said that if I took this position he is talking to me about he sees the career path leading to becoming a recruiter. I am hoping I don't have to go through the entire interview process again. He says he wants someone in place by th 26th so maybe they will be expediating the whole process.

Then we get Oliver the newest member to our family the second weekend in July! I am so excited he is adorable, and it will be good for Rufus to have a playmate once we move out.

Well I need to clean. Yuck!

So much for being a cursed day!

Today started not looking so hot. My car died, and I believe it will be put out to pasture this time around. But we bought an auto club membership the last time it broke down so towing was free. I will probably have to get a new car, but we will buy a cheap one, and there is a big auto sale this weekend and we have a friend who is a GM at a dealership.

But then today, I was approached by my boss to apply for a position that would be a promotion, and you normally can't do that until you have worked there for a year, but his boss is impressed with me, so he is allowing me to apply.

We are getting a new puppy for free, named Oiver, so Rufus has a brother and...

We just made an offer on the cutest house! It's a great deal! Now we just have to get our loan stuff to go through and we will be golden!

Long time

Sorry it has been so long since I have posted. Aaron and I had a good weekend memorial day up north. We had a cookout with our friends, went to our old church and had dinner with a few more friends. It was nice to remember what it used to be like having friends. It was awesome being with the old gang again.

I had another kinda of long week last week at work with new hire orientation. This week will be pretty calm, and then I think I get to go on a two day trip the following week to visit interns. I am very excited about getting out of the office. I have been spoiled these past few weeks working, but in settings away from my cubicle.

Nick started today at our church so Aaron is now only the associate pastor and Nick is the senior high pastor. We will still lead worship, but hopefully we can find someone to take over that soon as well. I was spoiled those several months that I had my Sunday evenings.

It is this time of year I wish I had gone into teaching as a profession. I want my summers off! Well I need to finish laundry before I go to bed. Just wanted to let everyone know I'm still alive!

EXHAUSTED!

I survived the week. We had 115 interns come in on Wednesday and I spent 30+ hours of my 54 hour work week ( I'm so glad I get overtime! The one time being a peon works in my favor!) with the students. We had receptions, dinners, speakers, a casino night, all kinds of things, and I was wearing heels for all but 3 hours of the entire orientation! I could barely walk when I got out of bed on Friday (but boy did my feet look fabulous in them!) On a complete side note, I have a begun a slight show fetish. I am in LOVE with heels, but my feet are not quite feeling the love yet.

Anyway, so I survived my crazy work week, and then Zach and Andrea came down yesterday and the five of us (Z & A, me, Aaron, and his brother Zach) led worship at church this weekend. It was an acoustic Tomlin/Crowder mix, and it was awesome working with those guys again, they are so crazy talented. It was a total change from what this church is used to (they do more Maranatha, "Jesus You are My Best Friend" kind of worship). It was hard to read how people responded. His parents said people didn't sing much, even though we made sure to do a couple of songs they knew. We had tight four part harmonies at times that gave me goosbumps. I love when music just falls into place like that.

It was good to hang out with Zach and Andrea, and Megan and Chad came to hang out last night too. It was the first time we had a large group of people hanging out in our place. I haven't laughed that hard in awhile. I miss having friends,

Our apartment is nice and clean for the first time in months, thanks to the awesome tag team work of Aaron and I. I think I am going to just relax and read for a bit.

Crazy I know...Grey's Anatomy Spoiler Alert!

I am obsessed with Grey's Anatomy. The past two nights have been insane for me. Last night screaming at George to tackle Izzie and stop her, and tonight I cried twice! When they put Doc to sleep I cried, and then when Alex picked up Izzie and held her as she cried. I can't believe she quit! And then they leave us wondering who Meredith is going to choose??!!! I am going nuts!

This is week at work is going to be the week from hell. I already worked an hour overtime today, and that is nothing compared to how it is going to be come Wednesday! We have 115 interns coming in and my department coordinates the program. Wednesday and Thursday will be 14+ hour days, and Friday will be a 9 hour day. I think it will be fun hanging out with the interns, we have a casino night and other fun events planned, but honestly I suck at schmoozing at the manager's events. That's why I volunteered to do check in and things that keep me at a table, so I don't have to schmooze so much.

Our friends Zach and Andrea are coming down this weekend to lead worshio with us. I am so excited! It will be VERY different from what this church is used to. I am curious to see how they respond. I can't wait to colloborate with such talented musicians again!

Well I need to get some shut eye!

A trip to the past

We went to the old alma mater today for my mom in law's graduation. It is nice to go back, but also always a little weird. I ran into my favorite prof Neal Windham, and was able to meet Aaron's favorite Prof John Castlein. We also ran into a few old friends, played the catch up game and moved on.

It is always refreshing to go back, it is almost like I am being sent out into ministry for the first time. it is always a good reminder of where I came from and the ideals and hopes and dreams I had when I was sitting in those pews just 5 years ago (has it really been that long!!!???)
